Government confirms commitment to deliver East West Rail, following publication of Network Rail’s Hendy Report. Development work continues.

A major milestone has been reached for East West Rail as contracts have been awarded for the rail link through Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

Consortium is concerned over potential delay to the Western Section of East West Rail between Bicester, Bedford, Aylesbury, Princes Risborough and Milton Keynes.

Network Rail is consulting on plans for the Western Section of East West Rail. Public exhibitions will take place between 21st September and 1st October 2015. Consultation material may be viewed at locations in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, and online.

Network Rail has identified two potential corridors for the proposed ‘Central Section’ of East West Rail between Bedford and Cambridge.

Network Rail and the East West Rail Consortium are continuing to work to deliver the core East West Rail (Western Section) scheme and electrification as planned.
